UBV Oberhaid

While getting closer to the next election taking place every 6th year, the UBV Oberhaid was searching for a possibility to broaden their audience. Being a small political party, they didn’t yet have a web site, like the major parties SPD and CSU did.
As the UBV Oberhaid was not generating a lot revenue from its activities a cost-effective, but still appealing solution was needed.

My start point was an existing black and yellow-colored logo. In close communication with the party’s executives, a design proposal was drafted, reviewed several times and sliced to HTML. Cross-Browser-compatibility was a requirement, as a lot of visitors would still use outdated browsers - however I still stuck to modern standards and made the layout fully valid XHTML 1.1. The text was properly marked up in a semantic manner and the content was divided from the layout using CSS technology.
For money was a matter in the project, a free management solution with low server requirements (and thus low server costs) was required. Having a great user community and providing frequent updates, WordPress was the perfect choice fulfilling the needs of a minimal Content Management System while still providing enough flexibility to manage static pages, multiple users and a blog-like journal.
After porting the design into WordPress’ template system, I set up the basic WordPress modules and settings, as well as few standard plug-ins and moved the site from my development server into production usage.
